ADVANCING METROPOLITAN AREAS TOGETHER: UITP AND METROPOLIS SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING

By working together through advocacy actions, UITP is pleased to announce the signing of an MoU with Metropolis, 
the World Association of the Major Metropolises.

By combining efforts, the global reach of both UITP and Metropolis will allow for cooperation in the field of sustainable mobility by exchanging information on urban transportation policiesplanningmanagement and operations.

Working with key decision-makers in our cities is vital to advancing urban life and this agreement will allow UITP and Metropolis to advance on advocacy and outreach initiatives such as the Mobility Champions Community.

More than 30 global Mayors have joined the Mobility Champions Community and three clusters and topics have been identified as priority areas: health, social inclusion/diversity and innovation.

These topics, and their contributions through mobility policies to localise Sustainable Development Goals, will be addressed by the Members of the Mobility Champions Community during the opening and various high-level sessions of the next UITP Global Public Transport Summit (Stockholm, 9-12 June 2019).

UITP´s working bodies will also produce several policy papers and recommendations during 2019-2021 on key topics for metropolitan areas (such as health, accessibility, Mobility as a Service, e-buses, and more).

Metropolis members will be invited to enrich those papers with the point of view of decision-makers.
